Management Accountant, Bookkeeping & VAT
We’re seeking a motivated individual to become part of our Accounting Services team.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with experience in practice, a professional transitioning from industry, or someone early in their accountancy career seeking a fresh challenge.
Our team delivers a variety of outsourced services to clients, including bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management accounts. You’ll also support our main accounts department with accounts preparation.
This is a full-time, office-based role (38.75 hours per week), with flexibility around start and finish times.
The role will involve working within a growing team and offer the opportunity to shape the cloud accounting services offered by the firm, including Xero, QBO and Sage Accounting.
Duties will include:
Management Accounts Services
- Bookkeeping client records as part of management accounts services
- Preparation of VAT returns
- Preparation of periodic management accounts for clients
- Desktop review of client records, including advising clients of corrections needed or updating client records as required
- Assisting clients with general accounting and cloud software queries both remotely and at client premises
- Answering related queries and providing assistance and reassurance to clients – we very much see ourselves as an extension of our client’s financial accounting solution. A ‘here to help’ attitude is essential
Cloud Accounting Services (Xero)
- Advising on improving efficiencies and best use of cloud and connected technologies
- Preparation of system reviews and quotations for consultancy services
- On-boarding clients and data migration from existing accounting systems to Xero/ QBO/ Sage Accounting
- Set up and configuration of software
- Training clients on cloud software
- Suggesting improvements to financial systems
The ideal candidate will have:
- A friendly, helpful, ‘team player’ disposition
- A positive attitude, problem solving, patience and understanding of different learning styles
- The ability to work both alone, with clients and in a team – clear communication skills including keeping respective parties up to date with progress
- Adaptability, being responsive to changing deadlines and priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organisation skills
- Although predominantly office based, the role may require you to occasionally travel to other offices

Experience required:
- Extensive experience using Xero for at least 2 years
- Experience working in an accountancy practice (not essential)
- Sound understanding of accounts preparation
- Experience providing training on a one to one or larger group basis
- AAT qualifications, we have study support available
